WineryPOS Update (Version 4.51) available

Version 4.51 is now available for download and the new iPad version is
available in iTunes.

 

For anyone attending the OCW tradeshow on Wednesday May 1st in Toronto - I
will be there as a vendor.  Stop by and ask any questions.

 

To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu bar, and
the download will begin.

On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.

 

When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation.

   Follow the installer directions.

   You can now restart the WineryPOS application.

 

It is better to update your base terminal first.  You can leave your remote
terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal.  If
you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that the
WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall.  If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update
from the base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just
check for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.

 

Updates in this version:

1) Winery Reporting template v25.9 (needed for April/2019 reporting and on).
It will be downloaded from the server when you restart the software after
the update.

1a) Removes the 1% markup addition to the LCBO markup that was scheduled for
this April.

2) Added tip & cashback totals to end-of-day and daily totals printouts &
reports.

3) Added a view pdf button to the warning/error dialog.

4) Added database replication.  The database format has changed to support
data replication.  This will allow for easier data recovery if your computer
crashes at the wrong time and a more sophisticated internet backup service
(future addition).  Even if you are not backing up your database, the
software will replicate the parts of the database that are changing at a
regular time interval.

4a) Your database will be moved/converted when you start up the software
after the update.

5) Pop-up the Contact List when the contact edit text box is clicked on the
main display.

6) Resizing of a number of dialogs based on the display scale setting in the
Print Configuration dialog.

7) Added a container type (bottle/can/keg) that can be configured for each
wine/cider.

7a) By default, all containers are bottles.  If the size is > 10L they will
be treated as kegs (no deposit) - this operation has not changed from
previous versions.

7b) Kegs have no deposit.

7c) For cans, deposit is 10cents when the size < 1L, or 20cents otherwise.

8) Miscellaneous fixes. 

9) Added discount capability into out-of-prov and export sales channels.

 

Upcoming additions:

1) Sales data posting to Quickbooks and Sage - this is my top priority right
now, but this is not a simple task.

2) Add a dialog that resembles the main display (sale item buttons & pages)
for quickly adding more sale items to sales in the Update Sale dialog (this
feature is already on the iPad).

3) Import/Export.  a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets.  b) Bulk inventory. 

4) Be able to generate reports for specific wine(s) or sale item(s) or sale
category(s).

5) Add ability to set the foreground/background colours for the payment and
page buttons.

6) Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.

7) More sophisticated database backup capabilities.

8) Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database on my
server.

9) Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that can
be scanned from a smart phone.  That way membership swipe cards are not
needed.

 

I expect the next update to be in the June/July time frame.

 

As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know.  I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.
