Version 4.48 is now available for download and the new iPad version is
available in iTunes.

To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu bar, and
the download will begin.

On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.

When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation.

   Follow the installer directions.

You can now restart the WineryPOS application.

It is better to update your base terminal first. You can leave your remote
terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal. If
you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that the
WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall. If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update
from the base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just
check for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.

Updates in this version:

1) MAC report generation with Excel 16 issue. The newest version of excel
for MACs required a few changes to the applescript generation to
consistently create new report files each month. The scripts will now work
with the highest level of MAC security settings (the locked-down/paranoid
settings).

2) Added error logs to all report generation dialogs that interface with
excel. If there are any excel generated errors during report creation, a
Error Log button will appear to view those errors.

3) Added progress indicators to all report/summary/audit generation dialogs.

4) Reports (when Show Category Details is set to All) will show:

4a) the unpaid invoices at the start of the reporting period

4b) the invoices paid during the reporting period

4c) the unpaid invoices at the end of the reporting period

5) Improved message transfers between the base and remote terminals. For
larger data sets, you should see improved response times.

6) Added an AKA (Also-Known-As) field to the Winery Info dialog. If
specified, this field will be used as the winery's name on invoices,
receipts & reports (except for J10 generation).

6a) If you want to use this field, you must send me the text you want to
use, and I will send the correct key to enable that text.

7) Contact Lists can now be sorted by first name OR last name.

7a) for new contacts the Joined In date defaults to the current date.

8) The email dialog now has a BCC field.

9) Multiple table maps (up to 3) are now available. When configuring table
maps, the tables and areas, can be dragged (click and hold while dragging)
to move them, or if you click-and-hold and drag close to an edge they can be
resized.

9a) on iPads swipe left or right to move between maps.

9b) on other terminals press the Next or Prev buttons to move between maps.

10) Fixed a data loss error. The Terms/PO Number/Message fields were not
being copied when you moved a transaction between months.

11) Exporting Email Lists and Wine Club. This will allow you to export from
the POS software and import/update your mailing lists on your email server.

12) Create emails for email lists and wine club. You can now do this, but
it is better if you use a proper email service (i.e., update 11) to send
emails to your wine club and email lists. If you create an email for an
email list or wine club, the software will send one email for each contact
in the email list or wine club (that's what a proper mailing list on an
email server will do). Why? Because, if you send an email to 100s of
contacts at once it will most likely be tagged as spam. If you sent too
many emails this way, your email still might get tagged as spam due to heavy
emailing from a single source, or your email address may even get
black-listed due to heavy emailing - so be careful if you want to do this.

13) Added Qty/Total/Name sorting to the Name Search Sales dialog

14) Added CSV and PDF generation to Name Search Sales dialog. This dialog
can now be used to generate reports containing sorted sales based on totals
or qty, or names. Want to see your licensee sales sorted by qty for a
specific reporting period? You can.

15) Added CSV view option on Bottle Inventory dialog.

Upcoming additions:

1) Semi-integration with Moneris (the equipment is here)

2) Semi-integration with Chase.

3) Add a dialog that resembles the main display (sale item buttons & pages)
for quickly adding more sale items to sales in the Update Sale dialog (this
feature is already on the iPad).

4) Sales data posting to Quickbooks and Sage - I really want to get this in
by April.

5) Import/Export. a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets. b) Bulk inventory.

6) More statistics generation (average sale per transaction, etc).

7) Add a middle tier (eg, Manager/Supervisor), to the permissions. The
middle tier will be able to modify sales transactions, but would not have
access to reporting.

8) Add a quick way of adding a custom redeem for a gift certificate
purchased through a third party (eg Costco).

9) Be able to generate reports for specific wine(s) or sale item(s) or sale
category(s).

10) Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.

11) Add magnetic strip card support for Wine Club members.

I expect the next update to be in late-February time frame.

As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know. I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.

Cheers,

Rob
