Version 4.54 is now available for download and the new iPad version is
available in iTunes.

To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu bar, and
the download will begin.

On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.

When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation.

   Follow the installer directions.

You can now restart the WineryPOS application.

It is better to update your base terminal first. You can leave your remote
terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal. If
you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that the
WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall. If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update
from the base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just
check for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.

Updates in this version:

1) Data replication. The database now has two replications (copies)
occurring, which means that if the database gets corrupted, it can be fully
recovered.

a) Some data recovery is automatic at start-up. Otherwise a data
recovery tool can be launched.

b) Replication of the config file occurs for remote terminals, to be
able to recover corrupt configs.

2) Database speed improvements. The data replication has allowed for
speed improvements to be implemented.

a) PDFs are only created if they are going to be launched

3) A number of dialogs have been enlarged (e.g., the Staff dialog) or
re-scale based on the display size for easier reading and usage on a touch
screen.

4) Fix a bug in bulk inventory modify when only cider/cooler categories
are being shown.

5) Warning for cider in kegs that should be 'bulk cider' and not
'cider' to prevent category errors during winery reporting

6) Warning to check for wine being sold to licensees below MRP (minimum
retail price) if an error has been detected when filling out the licensee
winery reporting sheets.

7) Tip/Cashback totals are displayed on the End-of-Day dialog for the
Restaurant package.

8) Tip/Cashback rounding up to the next nickel at the End-of-Day if
cash nickel rounding is enabled. The user is prompted to allow the rounding
if it is detected.

9) Improve temporary sales retention.

10) Add PDF and CSV summaries for Bottle Warehouses and fix an
inconsistency with warehouses.

11) Add the payment list to Invoices that are Now Paid and add a View CSV
button to the Sales dialog

12) Add the custom payments as options (besides cash and cheque) for
deposit slips.

13) Secondary printers print orders capitalized and bolded for easier
reading in the kitchen.

14) Other misc fixes/changes.

Upcoming additions:

1) Sales data posting to Quickbooks and Sage - this is my top priority right
now, but this is not a simple task.

2) Add a dialog that resembles the main display (sale item buttons & pages)
for quickly adding more sale items to sales in the Update Sale dialog (this
feature is already on the iPad).

3) Import/Export. a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets. b) Bulk inventory.

4) Be able to generate reports for specific wine(s) or sale item(s) or sale
category(s).

5) Add ability to set the foreground/background colours for the payment and
page buttons.

6) Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.

7) Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database on my
server.

8) Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that can
be scanned from a smart phone. That way membership swipe cards are not
needed.

I expect the next update to be in the Sept/Oct time frame.

As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know. I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.

Cheers,

Rob
