Version 4.50 is now available for download and the new iPad version is
available in iTunes.

To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu bar, and
the download will begin.

On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.

When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation.

   Follow the installer directions.

You can now restart the WineryPOS application.

It is better to update your base terminal first. You can leave your remote
terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal. If
you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that the
WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall. If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update
from the base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just
check for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.

Updates in this version (quite a few):

1) Added a Membership # to the Contact List, and support for magnetic swipe
membership cards. So if you have memberships cards, simply swipe the
membership card to populate the Contact for the sale on the main screen.

2) Allow remote terminals to check for updates in temp sales mode without
going into admin mode.

3) Added WRS sale statistics to end-of-day and daily summary reports and
printouts.

3a) # transactions, average $/transaction, average bottles/transaction, etc.

4) Added a Retail Sales Metrics dialog (for full versions+ only) to show the
sale statistics from 3, and has a bar graph to show #transactions / hour.

4a) This dialog is available in the Monthly Comparison and Sales Totals
(Daily) Summary dialogs.

5) Added semi-integration support for Moneris.

6) Added a custom Gift Certificate redeem capability (for gift certificates
issued by a third party).

6a) On PC version access via Config / Gift Certificates / Custom Client
Redeem

6b) On iPad access through the menu - Gift Certificate Custom Redeem

7) Speed improvements for remote terminals getting data from the base
terminal.

8) Add a terminal scale (100% - 150%), in the Print Configuration dialog.
The main application is scaled to support the lowest common screen. If your
computer has a larger screen size - which most newer computers do, you can
change the default terminal scale to be larger (e.g., 125%) for better
viewing. A number of dialogs will also resize based on the terminal scale.

9) Added a middle-tier Manager password. Unless it is set (Config / Change
Manager Password), it is unavailable. The Manager level can modify sale
transactions, but cannot access any reporting features and cannot delete
transactions.

10) Setup Warnings are generated to show inconsistencies in your database.

10a) In Setup Mode

10ai) Setup Warnings can be viewed by selecting Config / Setup Warnings.
Warnings typically are sales buttons with no matching inventory OR inventory
with no matching sales buttons.

10b) Bulk Inventory (Current & Historic) - a Warning Log button will appear
in the dialogs.

10bi) An Excise button has been added to view that months Excise numbers.

10bii) Warnings for mismatched numbers between bulk and bottle inventories.

10biii) Warnings for unusually large Inventory Adjustments that are most
likely due to forgetting to indicate Processed/Purchased/Sold/Packaged etc
wine/cider.

10c) Bottle Inventory (Current & Historic) - a Warning Log button will
appear in the dialogs

10ci) Warnings for mismatched numbers between bulk and bottle inventories.

10cii) Warnings for wine/cider Sale Items that are not in inventory.

10ciii) Warnings for inventory items that do not have wine/cider Sale Items.

11) Winery Report Warnings have been added - an Error Log button will appear
in the Winery Reporting dialog.

11a) Warning if you have tasting revenue, but have not added any Promotional
tasting bottles (zero litrage).

11b) Warning if you have Give Away transactions without a contact assigned
to them.

11c) Informational suggestion to reduce your Ontario Wine Tax by moving
specific Promotional Tasting bottles to Promotional Give Away bottles

11ci) E.g. If you have received 100$ in tasting revenue, but your
promotional tasting bottles for the month are worth 200$, the software will
tell you which bottles to move to Give Away to reduce the value of the
tasting bottles to be just above the tasting revenue.

11cii) You save approx 27 cents in tax for each 750ml bottle moved from
tasting to give away.

12) To support the above Information suggestions, the Split transaction
feature is enabled for all builds in Promotional transactions.

13) MAC build changes to support Mojave sandbox restrictions during excel
report generation. For MAC users with Mojave (the most recent OsX release),
make sure to click Allow when prompted during Excel report generation.
Otherwise Mojave will prevent WineryPOS from accessing Excel.

14) For historic bottle inventory modifications, a 'Use Actual' button may
appear to correct the number of bottles sold if your historic inventory has
reached zero and you have forgotten to add bottles to inventory until a
couple months later :-)

15) You can now email your LCBO audit reports generated by the software to
the auditor from the LCBO Audit Report dialog.

16) Other misc bug fixes and additions.

Upcoming additions:

1) Semi-integration with Chase (just in talks with them now).

2) Add a dialog that resembles the main display (sale item buttons & pages)
for quickly adding more sale items to sales in the Update Sale dialog (this
feature is already on the iPad).

3) Sales data posting to Quickbooks and Sage - I really want to get this in
by April.

4) Import/Export. a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets. b) Bulk inventory.

5) Be able to generate reports for specific wine(s) or sale item(s) or sale
category(s).

6) Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.

7) More sophisticated database backup capabilities.

8) Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database on my
server.

9) Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that can
be scanned from a smart phone. That way membership swipe cards are not
needed.

I expect the next update to be in the mid-April time frame when the next
Winery Reporting excel template becomes available.

As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know. I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.

Cheers,

Rob
