WineryPOS Update (Version 4.56) available

Version 4.56 is now available for download and the new iPad version is
available in iTunes.

 

To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu bar, and
the download will begin.

On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.

 

When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation.

   Follow the installer directions.

   You can now restart the WineryPOS application.

 

It is better to update your base terminal first.  You can leave your remote
terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal.  If
you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that the
WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall.  If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update
from the base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just
check for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.

 

Updates in this version:

1)      The colours of the Page buttons can now be modified when you are in
Setup Mode.

2)      Fixed a cashback error.  If you did a cashback and cashback was the
only item in the transaction.  Viewing the transaction after creating it,
would delete the transaction.

3)      VOIDing of a transaction.  You can now configure whether or not a
VOID needs to have an Admin/Manager approval.  There is now a checkbox in
the Winery Info dialog (Config / Winery Info) to configure the setting.

4)      Added BTG and TH bottle total tables to the Sales Summary report.
These were missing and could make it appear like your sales were not
matching bottles removed from inventory.

5)      Show specific promotional tables for Promotional transactions when
the view PDF or CSV buttons are pressed.  These tables also have the Staff
Name associated with the transaction - if staff names are enabled.

6)      Performing an End-of-Day or Adjust Cash Box will prompt for a Staff
Name now, if staff names are enabled.

7)      Improved data exchange between the base and remote terminals for
Winery Reporting generation.  If you have a slower/older base terminal
computer these changes will improve a remote terminals ability to pull data
from the base terminal.

a.       Changed the warning log messages to make it easier to determine
which promotional transaction(s) to split or change to give away to reduce
your Ontario Wine Tax

8)      Added a print button to the Booking Summary dialog so that you can
print the day's bookings on a POS printer (or regular network printer).

9)      Resizing of core dialogs based on the scale (100% - 175%) you have
chosen in the Print Configuration dialog.  There are still more to be done.

10)   Added the ability to use a 4 digit Staff Number instead of picking the
Staff Name from a dialog.  There is a checkbox in the Winery Info dialog to
enable this feature.

a.       The staff numbers can be set from the Staff List dialog (Lists /
Staff List)

b.      Staff Names can only be changed in a transaction with an
Admin/Manager password.

c.       The iPad re-prompts for a staff name when coming out of sleep mode
or bringing the app to the foreground.

11)   Other misc changes.

 

If anyone is using Shopify as an online sales mechanism, can you let me
know?  I've had a request from a winery regarding shopify integration, and I
would like to determine if there is general interest from wineries before
heading down that potential path.

 

Upcoming additions:

1)      Sales data posting to Quickbooks and Sage - this is my top priority
right now, but this is not a simple task.

2)      Add a dialog that resembles the main display (sale item buttons &
pages) for quickly adding more sale items to sales in the Update Sale dialog
(this feature is already on the iPad).

3)      Import/Export.  a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets.  b) Bulk
inventory. 

4)      Be able to generate reports for specific wine(s) or sale item(s) or
sale category(s).

5)      Add ability to set the foreground/background colours for the payment
buttons.

6)      Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.

7)      Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database
on my server.

8)      Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that
can be scanned from a smart phone.  That way membership swipe cards are not
needed.

9)      Split transactions into more than 2 splits easily.

10)   Split items into fractional amounts between multiple transactions (eg.
Split 1 bottle of wine in terms of value between two or more transactions).

11)   Add booking feature to the iPad.

12)   Create an iPhone app that supports the booking feature.

 

I expect the next update to be in the November time frame.

 

As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know.  I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.
