WineryPOS Update (4.62) available for WineryReportingV26.0

This is a critical update for reporting.  The new Winery Reporting template
was issued a month earlier than I expected.

 

Version 4.62 is now available for download and the new iPad version is
available in iTunes.

 

To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu bar, and
the download will begin.

On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.

 

When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation.

   Follow the installer directions.

   You can now restart the WineryPOS application.

 

It is better to update your base terminal first.  You can leave your remote
terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal.  If
you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that the
WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall.  If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update
from the base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just
check for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.

 

Updates in this version:

1)      Winery Reporting V26.0.  Needed for March/2020 reporting onwards.
This will be downloaded from the server when the new version is re-started
after installation.

2)      You can now set Gift Card and Gift Certificate to be payment types
(Winery Info dialog - Config / Winery Info.).  Currently Gift Card and Gift
Certificate redeems act as discounts on a transaction.   If you set them as
payment types, they will no longer be added to the transaction as discounts.

a.       If you have too many payment options (more than 11), a More.
payment button will appear to allow access to all payment types.

3)      Added 'Bad Debt', as a payment option for invoices.

4)      The generation of Statements has changed slightly.

a.       The Statement Summary dialog (Reports / Statements), now has a
select column to allow you to generate statements for many Contacts
simultaneously.

b.      Press the View Aged Accounts Receivable button to see a concise list
of your aged receivables (for the selected Contacts).

c.       A folder button to quickly locate the PDFs.

5)      The Sales portion of the database will be split into two tables
going forward to speed up searching and overall performance.

6)      The encryption service for remote access has been improved to use
white-listing.  When connecting to your base terminal from the internet, my
server will tell the base terminal the IP address of the incoming internet
connection to allow.  This prevents malicious actors from doing something
called port scanning and making rogue connection attempts.

 

Upcoming Additions;

1)      Add complexity to the Sales Accounting reports, with the potential
of being able to post the data to Sage and Quickbooks

2)      Import/Export.  a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets.  b) Bulk
inventory

3)      Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.

4)      Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database
on my server.

5)      Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that
can be scanned from a smart phone.  That way membership swipe cards are not
needed.

6)      Create an iPhone app that supports the booking feature.

7)      Add a timesheet feature to track/report employee work hours

8)      Be able to Print bookings by the week/month.

9)      Add secondary commission rate for specific sales channels (eg
Export, or OOP).

10)   Add a Loyalty program to award points/discounts/stuff to individuals
based on their purchases over the past number of month/weeks.

 

I expect the next update to be in April when the next winery reporting
template becomes available.

 

As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know.  I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.
