Version 4.80 is now available for download and the new iPad version is
available in the Apple App Store.

This is a critical update and contains licensee taxation changes that are
effective Jan 1, 2022 for licensee sales.

UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

1. To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu
bar, and the download will begin.
On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.

2. When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation

Follow the installer directions.
You can now restart the WineryPOS application.

It is better to update your base terminal first. You can leave your
remote terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal.

If you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that
the WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall.

If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update from the
base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just check
for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.

END OF UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

Updates (from 4.79) in this version:

1) Licensee taxation changes. The 6% LCBO markup on licensee sales has
been removed. The changes will come into effect Jan 1, 2022. So licensee
sales prior to Jan 1st will still use the LCBO markup. Overall, wineries do
not see a taxation change. You will collect less for a licensee sale, but
will remit less to the LCBO as well. The benefit for wineries is in BTG and
TH sales. Since the taxation is less, you will make more profit on BTG/TH
sales at your winery.

                                 i. A new Winery Reporting
template (V26.2) will be downloaded from the server when you restart. The
LCBO has moved to a .xlsm file format, and so the file size is considerably
smaller (in term of bytes) than before.

2) In the LCBO Monthly Report dialog, the Warning Log button will now
flash red when it is visible - making it more obvious.

3) For MAC generation of excel reports, I have slowed down the script.
Newer MACs running newer versions of excel were not ready for the script to
run and some pieces of information (eg Winery name and report date) were not
being populated as a result.

4) Added the ability to put an account on hold. Each contact now has
an Account On Hold checkbox. The checkbox can only be modified if you are
in Admin mode. Terminals not in Admin mode will display an error message
stating the account is on hold, if invoices are attempted for the contact by
those terminals. For terminals in Admin mode, a warning message is
displayed, but the invoice can still be created.

5) Fixed the "Library Wine" button to use the Allow discounts checkbox.
The Library Wine button was always allowing discounts on library wines.

6) Fixed an error introduced in version 4.79 on remote terminals.
Remote terminals were grabbing one month twice when creating commission
reports.

7) Added a Discovery IP scan ability for remote terminals when
connecting to the base terminal. This new method is to avoid issues caused
by Windows computers changing their network settings after a Windows update.
Quite often Windows would change the network settings if the computer was
connecting to the winery network via Wifi. There are also some routers
which seem to not properly propagate messaging across their Wifi networks.

8) Other misc changes/fixes

Upcoming Additions:

1) Add a Loyalty program to award points/discounts/stuff to individuals
based on their purchases over the past number of month/weeks.

2) Add a timesheet feature to track/report employee work hours

3) Add export to Sage/Quickbooks with the potential of being able to
automatically post data.

4) Enable Tour Company feature. This is a feature that I am currently
using in my winery's POS version to track sales to Tour Company tasting
groups, and consolidate tasting invoices to Tour operators.

a) Tracks the Tour Company, and optionally: the Tour Guide, the Group
Size & the Bottles Purchased for each tour that passes through the winery.

5) Add a configurable Region to the information for Contacts and allow
reports to be generated for regions (e.g., GTA/Ottawa/etc)

6) Add Credit-on-Account tables to all of the relevant reports

7) Import/Export. a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets. b) Bulk
inventory

8) Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.

9) Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database
on my server.

10) Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that
can be scanned from a smart phone. That way membership swipe cards are not
needed.

11) Create an iPhone app that supports the booking feature.

12) Be able to Print bookings by the week/month.

13) Add secondary commission rate for specific sales channels (eg Export,
or OOP).

14) Add Shopify/WooCommerce inter-connectivity support.

15) I will be moving the Windows build to a 64bit build (the MAC build has
always been 64bit) by the summer/fall of 2021. This means that really old
32bit computers (12+ years and probably running Windows XP) will no longer
be supported. If you have really old machines, you should consider
upgrading them (but kodus to them for surviving this long).

As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know. I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.

Cheers,

Rob
