From robert at sugarbushvineyards.ca Wed Apr 24 09:58:54 2024 From: robert at sugarbushvineyards.ca (Robert Peck) Date: Wed, 24 Apr 2024 09:58:54 -0400 Subject: WineryPOS version (4.93) is available Message-ID: <024201da964f$8bfc4700$a3f4d500$@ca> Version 4.93 is now available for download and the new iPad version is available in the Apple App Store. UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS 1. To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu bar, and the download will begin. On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode) you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates. 2. When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation Follow the installer directions. You can now restart the WineryPOS application. It is better to update your base terminal first. You can leave your remote terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal. If you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that the WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus firewall. If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update from the base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just check for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode. END OF UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS Updates (from 4.91) in this version: 1) Taxation updates (for April 2024 reporting on) a. Excise Tax increase by 2%. Wine is $0.716/litre, cider $0.344/litre b. The 6.1% Ontario admin fee for WRS sales has been removed in the Ontario Wine Tax form - well the rate gets set to 0.000 for April 2024 reporting on. NOTE: you still pay 6.1% for all other Ontario sales channels - so your licensee remittances to the LCBO remain the same. c. Update to WineryReportingV26.7 template. This will be updated again in the near future. The LCBO has already informed me that there will be changes to the excise and WRS Admin fee calculations on the Calculator sheet. This is due to the first version being released by the LCBO before the Federal and Provincial budgets were passed. d. PLEASE NOTE: the Excise tax and 6.1% Admin fee are only calculated when you generate your reports - as the sales channel impacts whether or not they are actually applicable. These taxes are not stored with the physical transaction. So you only need an updated version by the time you generate your reports sometime in May. Every year, I release an update in April to cover taxation changes. I cannot release it until after I have received the updated WineryReporting template from the LCBO and tested the template for errors/issues. I actually receive a pre-release from the LCBO to run performance testing on to verify their algorithm changes have not impacted its useability. 2) Starting with WineryReporingV26.6 template - if there is a below MRP or category error on one of the sheets, the POS will tell you which row (and wine/cider) and what error is being generated a. Detection is better on Windows, then the MAC b. Hopefully this will reduce the number of emails/calls I get regarding below MRP issues when a winery discounts the price of a bottle below the minimum retail price c. Please note: the MRP has gone up again in the new template - as it does every year. 3) Significant infrastructure changes and feature additions to accommodate the future incorporation of the Sage/Quickbooks posting feature. a. For the most part these features (eg an Accounting password) will not be accessible (they are hidden) until I roll out the posting feature. I will clarify all of the feature additions at that point. b. Still planning to get this feature in as soon as I can, but I would guess July time-frame at this point in time. 4) Improvements for internet tunneling to your base terminal. If the tunnel fails to establish, you should be given a fairly accurate reason why. 5) Every report/transaction should now be viewable in either PDF or CSV format. 6) The Colour Select Dialog now has physical names beside each colour to aid individuals with a bit of colour blindness. 7) Ability to create a transaction that simply has an HST adjustment in it (part of the changes needed for the posting feature). a. From the menu bar select, Sales / Create / HST Adjustment b. The Contacts shown for the adjustment is based on the Sales Channel you are in. If you want to create an adjustment for an LCBO sale, move to the LCBO sales channel and then perform the adjustment. 8) Restaurant Package updates a. In Winery Info dialog you can there is a new check box to limit the query for Open Tables to the staff name. In the past, this was not changeable and the POS assumed that if you were using staff names, that the query should be limited to the staff name. If you have different staff checking out and closing open tables, make sure this checkbox is NOT checked. 9) Additional stats/tables have been added to various reports for consistency across those reports. 10) Deposit slips. Semi-integration support. You can now select single or multi transactions from the same client and process them semi-integrated. 11) Other misc bug fixes. Upcoming Additions: 1) Add export/posting to Sage/Quickbooks. This feature will come with a cost (TBD$/year) due to the expected support to keep it up-to-date with Sage and Quickbooks updates. 2) Enhancements to the Wine Club feature. 3) Add a Loyalty program to award points/discounts/stuff to individuals based on their purchases over the past number of month/weeks. 4) Add a timesheet feature to track/report employee work hours 5) Ability to generate and track Sales Orders (future month dated orders that you can track payments as credit-on-account payments and change as needed). 6) Ability to crystallize all transactions before a specific date and not allow any transactions to be created prior to that date. 7) Add Shopify/WooCommerce inter-connectivity support. 8) Add a configurable Region to the information for Contacts and allow reports to be generated for regions (e.g., GTA/Ottawa/etc) 9) Add Credit-on-Account tables to all of the relevant reports 10) Import/Export. a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets. b) Bulk inventory 11) Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done through sales reps. 12) Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database on my server. 13) Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that can be scanned from a smart phone. That way membership swipe cards are not needed. 14) Create an iPhone app that supports the booking feature. 15) Be able to Print bookings by the week/month. 16) Add secondary commission rate for specific sales channels (eg Export, or OOP). 17) I will be moving the Windows build to a 64bit build (the MAC build has always been 64bit) As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added, let me know. I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly work my way through it. Cheers, Rob -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
