Version 5.01 is now available for download from the POS server and the new
iPad version is available in the Apple App Store.
Please note that the update server automatically disables updates for
wineries that have 30+ day outstanding invoices.
UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
1. To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu
bar, and the download will begin.
On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.
2. When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation
Follow the installer directions.
You can now restart the WineryPOS application.
It is better to update your base terminal first. You can leave your
remote terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal.
If you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that
the WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall.
If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update from the
base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just check
for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.
END OF UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
Updates (from 4.99) in this version:
1) Loyalty Member feature addition. Available natively to wineries
running the LCBO package. If you would like this feature and do not have
the LCBO package, the Loyalty Member feature can be added to your
configuration as an add-on feature for 10$/month.
This feature is a basic loyalty membership feature. Members are tracked,
and accumulate loyalty dollars, that can be used in future purchases. When
the loyalty dollars are used, they are applied to the sale as a discount.
Loyalty members have their own table in the database to speed up access, but
each loyalty member also has a contact. The Loyalty table only tracks their
Name, Telephone, and Email address. All other data for the member can be
accessed via their contact information.
a. Basic Settings via the Winery Info dialog (press the Loyalty
Options button).
Enable/Disable loyalty Tracking - When enabled a quick access Loyalty button
is added to the main display, just above the Contact button.
Rate - Sets the percentage rate (X.XX), that loyalty dollars are accumulated
at. Eg. At 5.00%, 5 dollars are accumulated for every 100$ spent.
Months - Is the number of months that their unspent dollars accumulate for.
As time goes by, and dollars are not spent, they are removed for lack of
use.
b. Basic Operation via the Loyalty button on the main display
The Loyalty button can be pressed before or after there are items in the
main display cart.
When the Loyalty button is pressed - a Loyalty Member search dialog is shown
- Double-clicking on an entry will select it (or pressing the
Select button on an iPad).
- Entries can be reduced by typing in any of the
Name/Telephone/Email text fields
NOTE: search results are based on the string being found at any location.
If 9000, or 399 is entered in the Telephone field, a number like
613.399.9000 is a match.
It is always quicker to simply enter the last 4 digits of someone telephone
number to quickly eliminate unwanted members from the list.
- Add a new member by pressing the Add New button.
If the new member already has a contact, press the Link To Contact button,
to pick search the Contact List to select the contact and copy their data.
For new members, you can change their Dollars accumulated amount - so you
could give them a bonus for joining.
If any of the fields Name/Telephone/Email are modified, their corresponding
Contact Info in the contact list is modified as well.
- View CSV button, allows sub-sets of the Loyalty Members to be
exported to excel.
When a Loyalty Member is selected for the transaction, the user will be
prompted to use (or not use), any accumulated dollars for the Loyalty
member.
Loyalty Dollars are accumulated on the sale total. So if a transaction has
a loyalty discount on it, they only accumulate dollars on the amount
tendered.
c. The Loyalty Members list can also be accessed from the menu bar by
selecting Lists / Loyalty Members.
When accessed from the menu bar, double clicking of the Member allows you to
edit the member information
You can add the Loyalty Member as the contact (Name), for an existing
transaction, and those loyalty dollars will be added to their totals.
Like-wise if you remove them from the transaction, the loyalty dollars will
be removed.
Note: currently you cannot assign a Table transaction to a Loyalty member -
that will be added in the future.
2) There are now 24 sale item buttons per page (4 columns x 6 rows)
instead of 20 (4 x 5).
3) MAC specific secondary printer bug fix. You can now access the Add
Media Option check box for secondary printers.
4) Gift Card / Gift Certificate usage bug fix on Unpaid (Invoice)
transactions on the desktop (it worked properly on the iPad). Fixed a bug
where if the Gift Card/Certificate only had 25$, but the transaction was for
100$, using the gift card/certificate resulted in the transaction being set
to paid - even though there should have been a unpaid amount of 75$ left.
5) Excise Warehouse ending inventory check/validation. A secondary
validation of ending inventory has been added to insure that the excise
warehouse ending inventory is correctly reported,
6) VQA Statistics needed when applying for the VQA rebate program are
now added to the Sales Summary reports (LCBO Package needed).
7) iPad specific updates:
a. The Contact List now has a Search button
b. The Contact List now has an A-Z set of buttons beside the scroll
view. Pressing those buttons, moves the scroll view to the start of that
letter.
8) Other misc changes and bug fixes.
9) Infrastructure changes/improvements to aid in Sage/Quickbooks
integration.
Upcoming Additions:
1) Add export/posting to Sage/Quickbooks. This feature will come with
a cost (TBD$/year) due to the expected support to keep it up-to-date with
Sage and Quickbooks updates.
2) Enhancements to the Wine Club feature.
3) Add a timesheet feature to track/report employee work hours
4) Ability to crystallize all transactions before a specific date and
not allow any transactions to be created prior to that date.
5) Add Shopify/WooCommerce inter-connectivity support.
6) Add a configurable Region to the information for Contacts and allow
reports to be generated for regions (e.g., GTA/Ottawa/etc)
7) Add Credit-on-Account tables to all of the relevant reports
8) Import/Export. a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets. b) Bulk
inventory
9) Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.
10) Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database on
my server.
11) Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that
can be scanned from a smart phone. That way membership swipe cards are not
needed.
12) Create an iPhone app that supports the booking feature.
13) Be able to Print bookings by the week/month.
14) Add secondary commission rate for specific sales channels (eg Export,
or OOP).
15) I will be moving the Windows build to a 64bit build (the MAC build has
always been 64bit)
As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know. I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.
Cheers,
Rob
