Version 4.72 is now available for download and the new iPad version is
available in iTunes.

UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

1. To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu
bar, and the download will begin.
On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.

2. When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation

Follow the installer directions.
You can now restart the WineryPOS application.

It is better to update your base terminal first. You can leave your
remote terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal.

If you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that
the WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall.

If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update from the
base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just check
for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.

END OF UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

This is not a critical update, but solves an issue introduced in version
4.71 where new items cannot be added to some of the lists (Sales Rep/Wine
Club/Messages/etc).

Updates (from 4.71) in this version:

1) Fix a bug in the list dialog that was not allowing keyboard entry
when a new item for the list is being created. This bug was introduced in
4.71, when I consolidated a few things for re-sizing the dialogs.

2) The About dialog now shows you the Operating System you are running
on the computer. You should look to retire the Windows computers that have
"(32 bit)" in the title, or MacOS computers that have a version 10.8 or
below. They are very old machines that Microsoft and Apple are no longer
supporting, and probably run very slowly now.

a. Eg. Windows XP (32 bit) [5.1.xxxx] Service Pack 2

b. Eg. Windows 10 (64 bit) [6.2.9200]

c. Eg. macOS High Sierra (64 bit) [10.13.6]

3) If a Remote Terminal is being re-configured as the Base Terminal
(because you are retiring your current base terminal), it will now query you
to automatically copy the database from the older machine to the new one,
and convert the older machine to a remote terminal (for sales). This really
speeds up the process and requires fewer instructions from me.

Upcoming Additions (not in order of implementation):

1) Add a configurable Region to the information for Contacts and allow
reports to be generated for regions (e.g., GTA/Ottawa/etc).

2) Add Credit-on-Account tables to all of the relevant reports

3) Add complexity to the Sales Accounting reports, with the potential
of being able to post the data to Sage and Quickbooks

4) Import/Export. a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets. b) Bulk
inventory

5) Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.

6) Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database
on my server.

7) Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that
can be scanned from a smart phone. That way membership swipe cards are not
needed.

8) Create an iPhone app that supports the booking feature.

9) Add a timesheet feature to track/report employee work hours

10) Be able to Print bookings by the week/month.

11) Add secondary commission rate for specific sales channels (eg Export,
or OOP).

12) Add a Loyalty program to award points/discounts/stuff to individuals
based on their purchases over the past number of month/weeks.

13) Add Shopify/WooCommerce inter-connectivity support.

14) Ability to move/not-show inactive contacts and/or have a one-time use
contact

15) Soon the MAC build will only support 10.9+. This is due to Apple
changing its security requirements for apps in the near future.

16) I will be moving the Windows build to a 64bit build (the MAC build has
always been 64bit) by the summer/fall of 2021. This means that really old
32bit computers (12+ years and probably running Windows XP) will no longer
be supported. If you have really old machines, you should consider
upgrading them (but kodus to them for surviving this long).

As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know. I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.

Cheers,

Rob
