Version 5.06 is now available for download from the POS server and the new
iPad version is available in the Apple App Store.

Please note that the update server automatically disables updates for
wineries that have 30+ day outstanding invoices.

UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

1. To check for updates select Help/Check for Updates from the menu
bar, and the download will begin.
On base and sales terminals (or a Remote Terminal in Temporary Sales Mode)
you have to be in admin mode (press F12) to be able to check for updates.

2. When the download completes, select 'Yes' to start the installation

Follow the installer directions.
You can now restart the WineryPOS application.

It is better to update your base terminal first. You can leave your
remote terminal(s) running and connected while you update the base terminal.

If you have anti-virus software running, you may need to verify that
the WineryPOS application is still being allowed through the anti-virus
firewall.

If your remote terminal does not automatically pull the update from the
base terminal, and goes into Temporary Sales mode on start-up, just check
for updates on the remote terminal while in Temporary Sales mode.

END OF UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

Updates (from 5.03) in this version:

1) Updates for EXCEL report generation. For anyone with a Windows
Microsoft subscription, a recent excel update by Microsoft was returning
errors when the POS was writing to the excel sheets. I have a hunch on what
they have changed, but as a result I have added duplication and slowed down
how fast the POS software will fill out the sheets. Normally errors are
only returned when cells are locked (which occurs if you have an excel
report open and then try to regenerate it).

a. An Excel Setting dialog has been added to be able to set additional
time delays if necessary. It can be accessed by pressing the F2 key when
you have the Print Configuration dialog open. Check with me if you think
that you want to set these, as depending on the settings, you can slow
report generation down to a crawl.

b. If the POS detects and reports an Excise warehouse discrepancy, a
new button (Validate Excise) will appear on the dialog to help you fix it.
Pressing it results in the POS scrubbing the month's sales and validating
each bottle in a transaction against the current excise settings in bottle
inventory. When finished a dialog will pop up with the results on a per
bottle basis and indicate if the bottle is OK or has an ERROR. This should
fix most of the basic errors wineries are introducing by adding bottles to
inventory after they have already started to sell them. The only obvious
way a winery can still have errors is by overselling a bottle - meaning
selling more bottles than are physically in inventory (inventory only goes
to zero and not negative) - which can happen when a vintage is running out,
and you forgot to flip to the new vintage from the old one.

c. A new search has been introduced (Sales / Search / Find
Transaction(s) by Bottle Price) to be able to find transactions containing
specific bottles AT OR BELOW the price specified. This will help you find
the transaction(s) where you have sold bottles below MRP (minimum retail
price), and correct them so that your reports will correctly populate.

2) Updated the Cider and Cooler LCBO markups to the values that are
effective Aug 1st, 2025.

a. I expect the LCBO to be releasing a new template imminently, and
when it is, I will release another version to handle the reporting correctly
for the new markups.

3) Restaurant package upgrades

a. A table button has been added to the bookings dialog to quickly
assign a table for a booking

b. Allow a table to be converted to a Loyalty Member transaction.

4) Fixed a bug on the desktop for Gift Certificate payments.

5) Fixed a bug on the desktop app to allow cash as a first AND second
payment.

6) Fixed a bug in the PrintPairingDialog to refresh the printer tables
when any printer is added.

7) For Invoices (and Tables)

a. Selecting Cash payment will now prompt for the cash amount and show
change.

b. Cash nickel rounding will be adjusted if necessary.

8) Other misc bug fixes.

Upcoming Additions:

1) Add export/posting to Sage/Quickbooks. This feature will come with
a cost (TBD$/year) due to the expected support to keep it up-to-date with
Sage and Quickbooks updates.

2) Enhancements to the Wine Club feature.

3) Add a timesheet feature to track/report employee work hours

4) Ability to crystallize all transactions before a specific date and
not allow any transactions to be created prior to that date.

5) Add Shopify/WooCommerce inter-connectivity support.

6) Add a configurable Region to the information for Contacts and allow
reports to be generated for regions (e.g., GTA/Ottawa/etc)

7) Add Credit-on-Account tables to all of the relevant reports

8) Import/Export. a) handle Sale Groups and Sale Sets. b) Bulk
inventory

9) Be able to create sub-invoices or invoice sets for large sales done
through sales reps.

10) Offer a backup service to store encrypted backups of your database on
my server.

11) Ability to create barcodes or QR codes for membership contacts that
can be scanned from a smart phone. That way membership swipe cards are not
needed.

12) Create an iPhone app that supports the booking feature.

13) Be able to Print bookings by the week/month.

14) Add secondary commission rate for specific sales channels (eg Export,
or OOP).

15) I will be moving the Windows build to a 64bit build (the MAC build has
always been 64bit)

As always, if there are any enhancements that you would like to see added,
let me know. I put everything suggested on a prioritized list, and slowly
work my way through it.

Cheers,

Rob
